Horstman grabs Run for the Rabbit win, Cook wins Mods and Conover goes Back to Back in Thunderstocks at Limaland

6/14/19 by Gerry Keysor - Lima OH

After losing the entire month of May to weather, Limaland Motorsports Park swung open the gates for the 2nd consecutive week to great weather, a great crowd, and some fantastic racing.  Cloverdale Ohio's Jared Horstman picked up the win in the 18th Annual Run for the Rabbit in the family owned No. 17  360 Sprint car, with No 21 Taylor Cook grabbing the Northwest Physical Therapy UMP Modified feature win, and No. 7C Jordan Conover picking up his 2nd consecutive feature victory in Budweiser Thunderstocks action.

Kicking off the night were the K&L Ready Mix NRA Sprint Invaders in their 25 lap A Main honoring Travis "The Rabbit" Miller. The fans were treated to a 4 abreast parade lap before the feature with No. 17 Jared Horstman pulling out front to lead the field in memory of Miller who also ran the No. 17 during his time in Sprint car racing at Limaland.  No. 5W Jeff Williams and Horstman would bring the field to green with Williams leading thru turns 1&2 but Horstman would use a slide job in turns 3 and 4 to take the lead.  The action stayed furious through the field with No 22H Randy Hannagan making his move to 2nd on lap 2 and trying to close on Horstman. No. 49 Shawn Dancer of Delphos Ohio would make his way to 3rd on lap 13, but could climb no higher.  Horstman got held up by lapped traffic late in the race which allowed Hannagan to close in, but laps would run out as Horstman would go wire to wire, winning over Hannagan, Dancer, Williams, and No. 12H Luke Hall.  Quick time was set by Horstman.  Heat races were won by Horstman, Williams and Dancer

In Northwest Physical Therapy UMP Modified feature action, No. 21 Taylor Cook and No. 17T Michael Tarlton would pace the field to the green flag.  Tarlton would grab the lead and hold it thru multiple cautions with a patient Cook hanging just a couple car lengths back and staying within striking distance throughout the 20 lap feature.  The final caution would wave on lap 18, and on the restart, Cook made a diving move to Tarltons inside in turns one and 2, Tarlton battled back down the straight away, and would battle alongside Cook for the white flag. When the leaders came around the final time to turns 3 and 4, Tarlton went for a slidejob with Cook crossing over and holding on to take an exciting win.  Tarlton would finish 2nd, with No. 34x Shane O'Connor 3rd, No. 95j Jerry Bowersock 4th, and No. 65 Todd Sherman completing the top 5. Heat races were won by Tarlton, Cook, O'Connor and No. 2B Darryl Banks.  B Mains were won by No. 16 Jeff Koz, and No. 463 Daniel Sanchez.

Completing the nights action were the Bud Thunderstocks in their 15 lap feature. UNOH Racer No. 00 Brandon Pralley and No. 82 Chris Douglas would bring the field to green with Douglas grabbing the early lead.  The caution flag would fly on lap 1, 3 and 4, keeping the field bunched up, and not allowing Douglas to get away.  On lap 7, No. 7C Conover would challenge Douglas for the lead and would take it for good on lap 8, grabbing his 2nd consecutive feature win.  Douglas would finish 2nd, with No. 22T Tony Anderson 3rd, No. 463 Daniel Sanchez 4th, and Pralley rounding out the top 5. Heat races were won by No. J1 Jeff Matheny, Anderson, and Douglas.

Limaland Motorosports Park is back in action next Friday night June 21st when Ohio Logistics presents Leg #8 of the 37th Annual Ohio Sprint Speedweek, featuring Tony Stewart's Ollie Bargain Outlet All Star Circuit of Champions Sprint Cars.  Also in action will  be the Northwest Physical Therapy UMP Modifieds.
